Birrunga Gallery
Birrunga Gallery is a First Nations art and Cultural hub based in Meanjin (Brisbane), operating with the permission of Uncle Eddie Ruska on the Traditional Lands of the Jagera, Yugerra, and Turrbal Peoples. As a Wiradyuri-led art gallery, we are deeply committed to celebrating and preserving First Nations Culture through art, storytelling, and immersive experiences. Through the ceremony of being danced onto Country and the exchange of gifts, we were honoured to receive and retain a valued message stick, symbolising our deep respect and ongoing Cultural connection to the Land and its Traditional Custodians. Founded by Wiradyuri artist Birrunga Wiradyuri, our gallery showcases contemporary Indigenous art, offering a unique space for First Nations artists, Cultural education, and community engagement. We present a range of artistic expressions, including painting, music, dance, and Cultural artefacts, alongside exhibitions, tours, workshops, and storytelling sessions. As a leader in the First Nations creative arts sector, Birrunga Gallery is dedicated to supporting First Nations artists, fostering Cultural awareness, and celebrating the richness of First Nations Cultural heritage.
